METODE KUMON DALAM MEMFASILITASI LITERASI AWAL ANAK PRASEKOLAH

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan implementasi metode Kumon dalam memfasilitasi literasi awal anak usia prasekolah, mengidentifikasi aspek early literacy skills yang paling terfasilitasi, serta mengevaluasi kesesuaiannya dengan karakteristik perkembangan anak. Fenomena yang dikaji adalah meningkatnya keterlibatan anak usia 3-6 tahun dalam program membaca Kumon, sementara prinsip pembelajaran mandiri berbasis lembar kerja belum tentu sepenuhnya sejalan dengan kebutuhan bermain, stimulasi multimodal, dan pendampingan sosial pada anak prasekolah. Penelitian ini memiliki kebaruan karena menempatkan metode Kumon, yang lebih sering dikaji pada matematika dan jenjang sekolah dasar, dalam konteks literasi awal anak prasekolah di lembaga nonformal. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif-evaluatif dengan desain studi kasus di Kelas Kumon Citra Harmoni. Data diperoleh melalui observasi terstruktur dua sesi, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi terhadap enam subjek yang dipilih secara purposif berdasarkan variasi level kemampuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Kumon sistematis pada penentuan level, lembar kerja berjenjang, umpan balik tutor, dan individualisasi. Aspek yang paling kuat terfasilitasi ialah pengenalan huruf dan membaca permulaan, sedangkan kesadaran fonologis masih lemah. Metode Kumon efektif apabila diterapkan adaptif sesuai usia, kesiapan belajar, dan kebutuhan perkembangan anak.
